Photogrammetry
& Remote Sensing
 Commonly
known, as PRS Division, it is one of the oldest divisions
of IIRS. It came into existence in 1966 during the
establishment of the Institute. As the core
technology division of IIRS, in almost
all training programmes, it covers
technological aspect of Remote Sensing,
Photogrammetry , Digital Photogrammetry, Image
Interpretation, Digital Image Processing ,
Cartography, Ground surveying, Global
positioning system and Geographic
Information system. It shares 30% of the
teaching load of all the courses that
are organized at the Institute. It has
successfully carried out a number of
consultancy projects on large scale
surveys and preparation of photo maps.
Digital mapping, and its research emphasis is focused on
photogrammetric applications such as cartographic
accuracy evaluation of aerial and
satellite data, landslide mapping , terrestria
l close range photogrammetry, cost
effective image map production, High
resolution image processing and Digital
photogrammetry . The Division has
successfully conducted alarge number of
regular training programmes and
specialized programmes with advanced topics.
