 EDUSAT workshop on June 1, 2007

IIRS organized EDUSAT workshop on June 1, 2007 with an objective to review experiences of the first course, address the issues on course structure, duration etc. and plan for future programs. Total 100 delegates participated in the workshop from 40 universities spread all over India. Dr. V.Jayaram, Director, NRMS has inaugurated the workshop through SPACENET from ISRO Headquarters. Dr. George Joseph, Director, CSSTEAP as a Chief Guest of the program, delivered keynote address.

Invited speakers from SCPO, ISRO and DECU, Ahmedabad delivered special talks on
1. EDUSAT configuration network and utilization and
2. Distance education - use of EDUSAT network for education and training in India respectively.

In addition presentations have been made on coordination and implementation by IIRS module coordinators. Selective university coordinators expressed their views and gave feedback for betterment of future courses. Final panel discussions chaired by Dr. V.K. Dadhwal, Dean, IIRS was held in the afternoon session. The panelists include: Dr.George Joseph, Director, CSSTEAP, Mr. Vikram Desai, Dy. Project Director, Implementation EDUSAT DECU, Ahmedabad, Dr. P.K. Jain, SCPO, ISRO HQs., Dr. Sanjeevi, Anna University, Dr. Vrishali Devasthali, Pune University, Dr. Ranjit, IGNOU, Dehradun.

Major highlights of the workshop are plan and conduct the next training program in September - December 2007 with the participation of more universities with improved transmission and better interaction between teaching end (i.e. IIRS) and classrooms (i.e. universities).
