Criteria for selection in various training program of IIRS

  • Sponsored applicants from Central/ State / University and autonomous institutions will be given preference. For any course normally 80% seats are reserved for sponsored candidates and 20% are reserved for open candidates. Sponsored candidates should also fulfill minimum qualifying requirement. If there are not enough applicants from sponsored organizations seats will be released to open candidates provided they fulfill the minimum qualification.

  • Institutes should sponsor applicants with 2 years field experience.

  • The selection of 'Open Candidates' (Paying Course Fee) will be done based on MERIT i.e. percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (First class only). If marks are equal, overall career of the candidate will be taken into account.

  • Leading Non Government Organizations (NGOs) can also nominate/sponsor candidates. Case by case approval of the competent authority will be obtained to waive off the course fee. In NO CASE more than one candidate in a particular course would be taken from NGOs.

  • Interdisciplinary concept is encouraged among candidates within the certain frame work of specialization.

  • Nomination/sponsorship from university will only be valid for the faculty /research officers/ scientists and project appointees in the RESPOND or National projects in the relevant area. Competent authority to sponsor the applicant will be Vice Chancellor/Dean/Registrar/Project Coordinators.

  • For applicants of Geoinformatics - Technology and Applications courses, persons having experience in Remote Sensing Mapping will be given preference. The experience could be in the form of Certificate/ Diploma/ Working experience.

  • For P.G. Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS sponsored science graduates with 2 years experience may be considered.

  • Qualification requirements:

A. REMOTE SENSING & GIS - MAPPING & MONITORING OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Certificate Course - Basic Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing

Science Graduate with mathematics up to higher secondary school level & 2 years experience (in service)

Post Graduate Diploma Courses in

Agriculture & Soils:
M.Sc in Agriculture/ Soil Sciences/ Geography/B.Sc. agriculture (4 years)

Forestry & Ecology:
M. Sc in Forestry/ Environmental Science/Ecology/Botany/Wildlife/Geography / B.Sc.(4 years)

Geosciences:
M.Sc. / M. Tech. in Geology/ Geography

Marine Sciences:
Post Graduate in Marine Sciences/Earth Sciences / any Natural Science

Human Settlement Analysis:
Post Graduate in Town & Country Planning / M.Sc. in Geography or Science / Engineering Graduates / B Planning

Water Resources:
B.E. / M.E. in Hydrology / Civil Engineering /Agricultural Engineering/ M.Sc. in Geology. Graduate Engineers with 2 years experience (in service).
 

M. Tech. In RS and GIS: all the disciplines of above Post Graduate Diploma Courses
